Don’t miss us at the Ukulele Festival at the George Inn, Newnham on 11 June.
Plus solo spots by our very own Jon Rissik and Sam Zelaya.
So, we have our next gig arranged!
We shall be providing the entertainment at the Rotary and Inner Wheel Club quiz night in Langton Green on 5th March.
So get practicing everyone!
As well as our main rehearsal on a Wednesday evening, from September we will be running a separate group on a Tuesday evenings (6.30-7.30pm) for people who are either just starting out, haven’t done much music before or just want to go at a more relaxed pace. We will cover different chords, strum patterns, a little fingerpicking and how to sing and play at the same time.
This group will even suit total beginners, so spread the word: There has never been a better time to take up the ukulele, the worlds most sociable instrument!
Have a nice summer,
Here’s what we looked at last week:
Hey Brother- Avicii (Chords)
And for this week, I’d like you to listen to and have a go at:
Sunny Afternoon- Version 1
(I will be handing out a slightly simplified version of Sunny Afternoon next week, so don’t fear if some of the chords in the one above are a little tricky!)
Meanwhile, please enjoy the following pictures from our last rehearsal:
See you soon!
These are the dates of the remaining rehearsals for this term:
February: 4th, 11th, 25th
March: 11th, 18th, 25th.
n.b. I can’t make the 4th of March due to an exam and the 18th of Feb is half term (we can still do half terms if you like, just let me know).
If you let me know in the next week of a rehearsal that you know you cannot make, then you can knock it off your invoice. But only if I know well in advance! As of next term, I will ask you this before we actually start back.
Also, I am adding the option of paying on the door for each session, but it will be slightly more expensive (£9). This is for people who want to come along and have had their free taster, but cannot commit due to work/children.
As always, let me know if you have any questions,
Here is a slightly simplified version of the famous guitar fiddly bit:
See you all wednesday and don’t forget to drop me any suggestions!
If you have time before tomorrow, here’s a sneak peek at what we will be doing!
We’ll start off with this one- Sweet Home Alabama in C
And then we’ll have a look at this one- don’t worry if you can’t do the tricky bit! Sweet Child of Mine
See you then,
